Though literally translated as "beer cheese," there is no beer in Beerkaese. The name comes from the German practice of dipping the cheese into beer as it's eaten. Beerkaese is made from pasteurized cow's milk and surface ripened. This Wisconsin cheese has a robust, full bodied, earthy, slightly tangy flavor similar to Limburger.

Even better than Limburger and Lederkranz Not for the faint of heart, but nothing great is.
Great smelly cheese

This is a very difficult type of cheese to find. I'm so grateful the Wisconsin Cheesemart carries it. I'll continue to buy it and recommend it to anyone..... Just don't expect your spouse to kiss you after you eat it.

It is wonderful!
My favorite "stinky cheese"
By Debbie Cisar
I have loved "stinky cheese" since I was little. My Grandpa ate Limburger and Brick cheese and since I had to eat whatever he did, I developed a taste for these wonderful pungent cheeses. I still like Limburger and Aged Brick but Beerkaese has become my all time favorite. So creamy and flavorful!

The shipment arrived yesterday, well packaged, and still quite cold. The cheese (Beerkaese) was superlative - a robust, energetic flavor - I am and will enjoy.

The delivery of my order was super prompt, the price was reasonable, and the product was excellent. I will definitely by a repeat customer. My only regret is that I can't eat faster!
