Collection: Alpine-Style Cheeses

Alpine-style cheeses are any cheeses that resemble the classic mountain cheeses made in the Swiss, Austrian, French, or Italian Alps such as gruyere.  Typically Alpine-style cheeses are semi-firm to hard made from cow's milk with a little salt, and produced into wheels.  Alpine-Style cheeses are nutty, rich, full-bodied cheeses often with a light brown washed rind.  They are wonderful melting cheeses for gratins, quiches, and fondue, and with their robust flavor make a wonderful addition to any cheese board.
